No one knows the seniors at Armour Square better than
Zhuo Jun Yu, who has been living there for 18 years and
serves as building president. So when CHA distributed
winter coats to residents as part of a new pilot initiative
in 2023, he heard about it.
“The winter coats provided great help to keep the seniors
warm, especially when going outside,” Yu said.
The seniors at Armour Square were part of the 1,000
CHA seniors who received coats thanks to a new
initiative from the senior LAC Presidents and CHA’s
Senior Services. In partnership with The Reva & David
Logan Foundation, residents living in nine seniordesignated buildings received new coats. It was an
answer to several requests from seniors wanting to
be part of the annual Operation Warm coat giveaway
for children.
“All of the residents were tremendously happy and truly
appreciated the donations,” Yu said. CHA hopes to make
the Senior Coat Giveaway an annual event.
