Housing Choice Vouchers
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is CHA’s largest housing
program, playing a vital role in housing families with children, the
elderly and people with disabilities across Chicago.
Through Housing Choice Vouchers, CHA-subsidized rent allows
eligible families to secure quality housing in the private market, such
as apartments, duplexes, condominiums, townhouses and single-family
homes. Housing Choice Vouchers give residents more choices about
where they live.
Some 14,000 private property owners currently participate in the
program. CHA offers a variety of incentives and supports to encourage
greater participation, including the annual Owner Symposium.
